George Espie died prior to 1891 when his wife, Mary Haddow Espie, is shown as a widow in the census.

In 1887, Alexander Espie, 15, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 117 Quarriers boys en route to Belleville, Ontario, Canada.
