Attestation papers were signed 15 Jul 1915 in Toronto, Ontario. George Stephen Murdoch was born 4 Dec 1896 in New Pitsligo, Scotland. He was a Machinist by trade. His Next of Kin was his Mother, Georgina Murdoch of New Pitsligo, Aberdeen, Scotland. 5'6" in height with grey eyes and brown hair, he had a tattoo on his left forearm of a ship. His religion was noted as Church of England.

Commonwealth War Graves Registers and Circumstances of Casualty state that he was Killed in Action when in charge of a ration party at Passchdendaele, West Flanders, Belgium. He was hit by shell fire and killed instantly. His Next of Kin was Mrs. Georgina Murdock of 2 School Street, New Pitsligo, Aberdeen, Scotland. His body was not recovered for burial, his name is listed on the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres, West Flanders, Belgium.
