On July 19, 1915, at Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, Alfred Charles Wilkinson, 18, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in London, England; that his next of kin was Mrs. E. Smale, who resided at 119 Russell Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada (the words No Living Relatives were written in and crossed out); that he was born September 22(?) 1896; that he was a farmer; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 5-1/2 inches in height; fair complexion; blue eyes; fair hair. He was a member of the Church of England. He had a mole on the right side of his breast. [EDITORS NOTE: According to his grandson, Alfred served with Princess Pat's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI). He enlisted along with his friend, Howard Smale, who was the son of his next of kin, Mrs. E. Smale, and possibly the family to whom he was originally placed. Family stories state that Alfred may have served in England, possibly in the Royal Flying Corps.]

On January 23, 1920, at Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Alfred Charles Talcroft, 22, electrical worker, born in England to Alfred C. Talcroft and Caroline Wilkinson; and Marguerette Ethel Smale, 19, stenographer, born in Ontario, Canada, to Thomas C. Smale and Ethel McGill. Mrs. Ethel Smale was a witness to the marriage.

In December 1923, Alfred Talcroft, 25, entered the United States through Port Huron Michigan. He declared that he was single; that he was a reporter; that he resided in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; that his contact was his mother, Caroline, who resided at 16 Calthorpe Street, London, England; that his final destination was Chicago, Illinois; that he carried $80 on his person; that he was going to visit his uncle, Dr. J. Hart, who resided at 183 North Clark Street; that he intended to stay indefinitely; and that he was born in London, England.

In 1930, Alfred Talcroft, 32, district inspector for life insurance, was shown residing as head of household at 5305 Garfield, Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri, along with his wife, Marguerite Talcroft, 29; and son, Stuart Talcroft, 3 months. He stated he had immigrated to the United States in 1923 and that he had been married for 10 years.

Alfred Talcroft died on February 10, 1967, in Chicago, Cook, Illinois, USA.
