A death registration was found for Michael Henratty: Year of Registration: 1886; Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec; Age at Death: 43; District: West Derby; County: Lancashire; Volume: 8b; Page: 360.

In 1887, Walter Hanratty, 11 (along with sister, Elizabeth Hanratty, 9, and brother George Hanratty, 12), arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 96 children from the Catholic Children Protection Society, Liverpool, England, accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Lacy, and en route to Hotel Dieu, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

I have found many errors in lists given to me in various ways, and hope in future more care will be exercised and more full and correct addresses given as to Christian names of guardians also."

On April 17, 1902, at Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Walter B. Hanratty, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces [EDITORS NOTE: Walter was a Soldiers of the South African War (1899 - 1902)]. He declared that he was born in Liverpool, England; that his next of kin was his sister, E. Hanratty, who resided at 16 Madison Avenue, New York (USA); that he was 24 years of age; that he was a teamster; that he was not married ;and that he had previously served in the A. Battery CA. He was described as 5 foot 8-1/2 inches in height; dark complexion; black eyes; black hair. He was a member of the Roman Catholic faith.

On September 23, 1914, at Valcartier, Ontario, Canada, Walter Bernard Hanratty, 35, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in Liverpool, England; that his next of kin was Mary Hanratty, who resided at 2118 3rd Avenue, New York (USA); that his date of birth was May 24, 1879; tha the was a laborer; that he was married; and that he had previously serviced in the 3rd Canadian Mounted Rifles. He was described as 5 foot 9 inches in height; dark complexion; brown eyes; dark brown hair. He was a member of the Roman Catholic faith. He had 5 vaccination scars on his left arm and a scar on his little finger on the right hand.

On June 25, 1919, Walter Hanratty crossed into the United States through the port of Rouses Point, New York, United States. He declared that he had been born in Dublin, Ireland; that he was 40 years of age; that he was single; that he was a laborer; that he had last resided in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; that his final destination was New York City to visit his brother Morris [Maurice], who resided at 22 Myrtle Avenue, Brook County, for 2 weeks. He was described as 5 foot 10-1/2 inches in height; medium complexion; brown hair; brown eyes. He had immigrated in Canada through Quebec in 1887.

Walter Bernard Hanratty died at the age of 82 on February 15, 1959 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. [Registration #1959-09-002565]
