Notes[POSSIBLE MATCH] A birth registration was found for Anna Kennedy: Date: Jan-Feb-Mar 1893; District: Woolwich; County: London; Volume: 1d; Page: 130. [EDITORS NOTE: School admissions and Barnardos records found indicated a birth date of October 14, 1895, so this birth registration may or may not be the correct child.]

Annie is the older sister of Ethel Kennedy (1900-1989).

Their mother was Margaret Kennedy; their father's name is unknown.

Next to nothing is known of Annie's life prior to her journey to Canada. Her sister Ethel did remember her leaving for Canada a few years before she did in 1913.

Annie Kennedy was admitted to Salters Hill School, Lambeth, London, England, on February 3, 1902. Her guardian was named as the Superintendent, Lambeth Parish Schools. Her date of birth is shown as October 14, 1895. Her last school attended was Gipsy Road. She was transferred on August 25, 1903.

In 1908, Annie Kennedy, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of Barnardo children: 118 boys to Toronto and 101 girls to Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

Placements made by Miss J. G. Kennedy, Hazel Brae, Peterboro, between Dec. 1, 1907 and Oct. 31, 1908, reports: ANNIE KENNEDY, (Date of birth October 14, 1895) was placed with D. Hyland, Hurdsman Bridge, Carleton, Ontario, Canada.

At some time after her arrival in Canada, Annie sent Ethel a photograph, possible taken at the Barnardo Home, Hazelbrae, in Peterborough, Ontario where she appears to have spent at least three years, appearing there on the 1911 Canadian Federal Census.

As a Christmas present in 1918, Annie sent a small Bible to Ethel with the inscription, "To my dear sister Ethel / Love, Annie

She did come to visit Ethel once after they had both arrived in Canada, but Ethel does not remember when exactly.

[POSSIBLE MATCH] An Annie Kennedy, 15, is also shown as a domestic for Edward and Evelenn May in Esquesing, Halton, Ontario, Canada, arriving 1908 to Canada, in the 1911 Canadian census. [Place: Esquesing, Halton, Ontario; Page: 9; Family No: 97.]

Family tradition has it that she lived in Cannington, Ontario for an indeterminate time, possibly placed with a family there and some time later moved to the Detroit, Michigan U.S.A. area and married a man with the surname Fitzgerald. No evidence, however, has yet been found to document these possible events.
