1911 Canadian Census records place Albert Spragg in Innisfil, Simcoe, Ontario. He was born in May 1895 in England, and immigrated in 1904. He is a Domestic in the household of Sarah and John Jays.

Attestation papers were signed 30 Mar 1916 in Barrie, Ontario. Albert Edward Spragg was born 19 May 1894 in Muxhar, England. He is a farm labourer by occupation. His Next of Kin was his brother, Cecil G Spragg of Lefroy, Ontario. 5' 3 1/2" in height, he had grey brown eyes and brown hair, with two vaccination marks on his left arm, a 1" scar on his right shin and flat feet. His religion was listed as Church of England.

Commonwealth War Graves Registers states Albert died of wounds at Number 3 Casualty Clearing Station. He was buried in Puchevillers British Cemetery, Puchevillers, Somme, Picardie, France. Plot: IV. E. 29.

Canadian Virtual War Memorial confirms that Albert was the brother of Cecil G. Spragg, of Lefroy, Ontario. Emigrated to Canada in 1905. Enlisted at Barrie, Ontario, 1st April, 1916, in 76th Bn.
