NotesA birth registration was found for Arthur George Angell: Year of Registration: 1890; Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec; District: Paddington; County: Greater London, London, Middlesex; Volume: 1a; Page: 6. Parents: George Angell and Dinah Maddocks, married 1869 in Calne, Wiltshire, England.

The family originally moved to the Paddington are about 1876. Arthur had four sisters and two brothers. When he was born, Arthur's father was 43 and his mother was 40, Frederick, the oldest was 15, Ellen, 13, Mabel 11, George, 9, Ada, 4, and Flora was 2. Arthur's father was a Stonemason as was his father before him. He owned his own building company and employed many people.

His sister Ada died March 30th 1900 at the age of 13. Dinah Maddocks Angell died March 28, 1901, in Willesden, London, England, her husband died within six months afterward.

In 1906, Arthur Angell, 15, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 239 children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Arthur's older brother Frederick was also a Stone Mason. Frederick was the first of the family to move to Canada. There was a down turn in the building industry in early 1900's. He moved to Kingston, Ontario. With all the limestone in Kingston, there was no problem getting a job and being able to establish the household in order to move his wife and children to Canada. He contracted with the Barnardo homes to act as an agent to oversee his brothers safe arrival to Canada. Frederick did this for his brother Reginald and sister Flora as well. Arthur fared much better than some of the other boys that came to Canada as immigrants with him.

Arthur lived with his brother Frederick and his wife Annie and their children on Queen Street, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. They attended St. George's Cathedral Anglican Church.

In 1909 he was employed as a Switchman with the Grand Trunk Railway and worked his way up to becoming an Engineer in 1920. He was a member of Moira Lodge #11, A.F. & A.M., a member of the Loyal of Order Moose.

On June 27, 1912, in Kingston, Frontenac, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Arthur George Angell, 21, fireman G.T.R., son of George Henry Angell and Dinah Maddock; and Rose Pague, 19, daughter of Henry Pague and Sarah J. Willis.

Arthur served 3 years with the 14th Regiment Reserves.

On June 29, 1915, Arthur G. Angell, 24, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in Paddington, London, England; that his next of kin was his wife, Mrs. R[osina] Angell, who resided at 96 Campton Road, Belleville, Ontario, Canada; that his date of birth was August 28, 1890; that he was an engineer; and that he had served for 3 years in the military in the 14th Regiment. He was described as 5 foot 7 inches; fair complexion; blue eyes; brown hair. He was a member of the Church of England. He had distinguishing marks of a scar outside of his lip and another small one above his right knee.

Arthur trained in Barriefield, Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and left via Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, for Liverpool, Lancashire, England, aboard the steamship Olympic on April 1, 1916. By May 13, 1916, he had been admitted to the military hospital in Buxton, England for Rheumatic Fever. He had contracted the disease as a child of 8 and suffered terribly, but when he moved to Canada his health improved. Being back in the English climate seemed to have brought back the disease. By October, 1916, he was given a medical discharge for a rheumatic heart. He sailed home aboard the steamship Olympic to Canada.

Arthur and Rosina had 6 children: Stillborn baby boy, buried in Belleville; baby girl, who lived but a few months; George Angell (1913-1992); Arthur Angell (1914-1987); Evelyn Viola Angell (1921-2004); and May Rosina Angell (1923-1946).

On February 22, 1928, in Belleville General Hospital, Arthur George Angell, engineer, aged 37 years, 5 months, 25 days, died of endocarditis. Informant was his wife, Mrs. A. G. Angell, who resided at 9 Brassey Street, Belleville, Ontario, Canada. He was buried in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Rosina Pague Angell died November 19, 1964, in Kingston, Frontenac, Ontario, Canada.
