NotesIn 1891, Frederick E Sadgrove, 32, wife Fanny E, 24 and children Elizabeth aged 4 and Lillian aged 10 months were living at 102 Old Town, Croydon. Frederick was a Postman and Sailor.

Lillian is recorded as dying in 1892 aged 2 years old in Croydon.

In 1901, Edgar, 5, was lodging along with his father Frederick Edridge? Sadgrove aged 42 and older sister Elizabeth, 15 at 60 Edward Road, Croydon. His father was described as married but there was no sign of the wife. His father was recorded as a sailor

His mother Fanny was recorded aged 35 in the home of William Beck at 46 Johnson Road, Croydon. She was a housekeeper.

His sister Elizabeth is recorded as marrying George Henry W Medler in Croydon in 1904. At least four children were born to this couple between 1906 and 1911.

On June 2 1916, Edgar Sadgrove, enlisted in the Canadian Army, he gave his address as R R No 6 London, Ont. His next of kin was Mrs Elizabeth Sadgrove, mother, 347 Croydon Road, London, his occupation was farmer

On 1 Oct 1918, Edgar Sadgrove was killed in WW1. He is remembered on the Vimy Memorial in France.
