In 1901, Albert Matthews, 14, is shown as a servant / farm laborer to Francis and Susan S(mith) Mollison at Woodlands, Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada. (EDITORS NOTE: Susan Smith had been a Maria Rye home child arriving in Canada in 1881 with her sister Emily Smith.) Albert's date of birth is shown as 1887 and his immigration year as 1899.

In 1911, Albert Matthews, 24, machinist, is shown as a lodger in the home of Henry and Alice Pickering at 217 Smith, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. His date of birth is shown as October 1886 and his immigration year as 1898.
