Notes Was placed in the St. George's in the East Industrial School. She left Liverpool on 18 Jun 1885 and arrived in Canada on 29 Jun 1885. She travelled to London, Ontario, Canada and stayed in Guthrie Home in London,Ontario. From there she went to live with the Phillip Facey family in the Bothwell, Ontario area. She stayed there from 1886 to 1895. In 1899 she married a Fredrick George Cudmore from Thamesville, Ontario and they proceeded to have a family of 11 children, 5 boys and 6 girls. Only one son lived past the age of 3 months. She loved her family very much and was surrounded by them a lot. She stayed in touch with her mother in England, they often wrote letters to each other. Her mother stayed in England with Sophia's younger brother. Her mother married two more times and had 2 more daughters. It is still unknown as to why Sophia was sent to Canada and her mother and brother stayed in England. Regardless of the situation, Sophia had a hard life, but she still managed to have a happy family life here in Canada. She was well loved by her children and grandchildren. She left a large family to carry on her dreams.
There is a discrepancy as to what ship she sailed to Canada on, BIFHSGO states she sailed on the Circassian, but her British Home Child file from Ottawa, Canada states it was the Lake Winnipeg. So we are unsure as to which one she sailed on. The listing says she sailed on 18 Jun 1885 and arrived on 29 Jun 1885.
