In 1923, a Hazel Christina Purkiss aged 18 and 1/2, was married in Toronto, she declared her parents to be Frederick Purkiss and Jessie Sayer but as she does not appear in 1911 when she would have been about 6 it is possible she was either adopted by the Purkiss's or residing with relatives on the census night

On Nov 23 1926, Jessie Steele Purkiss, 47, died at 33 Muriel Ave, she had been 35 years in Canada but 13 years at place of death,
parents named as Felix Sayer and Jessie Steele, informant was stated as her husband Frederick, she had been attended by the doctor from 26.9.1926-22.11.1926. The primary cause was stated as Carcenoma of Cervix Uteri (1 year). Contributed Cause given as Carcenoma of Liver and Cholemia (2 months)
