1911 Canadian Census records for Victor Russell states he was a Servant in the home of James Mc Taggart in Sonya, Mariposa Township, Ontario. He was born Jun 1894 and immigrated from England in 1904.

Attestation papers were signed 8 Nov 1915 in Port Perry, Ontario. Victor Russell was born 25 Jun 1894 in London, England. His Next of Kin was his mother, Mrs. Jeanett Russell (Butler) of 26 Clearence Road, Canningtown, London, England. He was a farmer by trade. 5'4" in height with brown hair and brown eyes. He was Presbyterian by faith.

Commonwealth War Graves Registers states he was Killed in Action. Circumstance of Casualty confirms he was not seen after the jumping off point during a trench attack south of Villers Bretonneux. He was reported missing after the objective was reached. Another Battalion forwarded his Pay-book to Headquarters, the book had a large hole inn it, he had obviously been killed by shrapnel. Next of Kin was his mother, Mrs. J. Butler of 26 Clarence Road, Canning Town, London, England. His body was never recovered, his name is listed on the Vimy Memorial, Vimy, Nord Pas de Calais, France.
