NotesIn 1887, Eliza Clayton, 9, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 18 Maria Rye children en route to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada, via Suspension Bridge.

"Copy of Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.

Report of Mr. John A. Donaldson, Government Immigration Agent at Toronto.

Eliza Clayson, aged 12. From parish of St. Mary Abbots, Kensington. Placed with John Lloyd, Lot 8, Con. 4, King, King Post Office.?A smart, healthy looking child, taken on the usual terms from Miss Rye. Has an excellent home, and is well spoken of by the old couple who have taken her, and who have already adopted one of Miss Rve's children some four years ago."

On November 30, 1898, at Simcoe, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Elizabeth Clesson [Clayson], 23, born in England to William Clesson and unknown mother; and [a possible homechild] Ernest Solway, 24, farm laborer, born in England to Edward Solway and unknown mother.

Ernest and Elizabeth Clayson Solway had at least 4 children: Florence Agnes Solway, born March 30, 1900, at Simcoe, Ontario, Canada; Donald Arthur Solway, born March 18, 1902, at Simcoe, Ontario, Canada; Iva Virginia Solway, born April 27, 1904; at Simcoe, Ontario, Canada; and Hattie Elizabeth Solway, born September 15, 1907, at Simcoe, Ontario, Canada.

On March 12, 1918, at Haileybury, Ontario, Canada, Eliza Solway, 43, born in England died of nephritis of several years duration and coma of 2 hours duration.
