NotesIn 1881, Caroline Brew, 7 years of age, was shown residing at 3 Seaton Street, Chelsea, London, England. Other family members included: Sarah Brew, 4; Mary Brew, 26, married; Mary Brew, 6; Emma Brew, 2; William Brew, 5 weeks. (Source: 1881 Census of England; Class: RG11; Piece: 75; Folio: 4; Page: 2; GSU roll: 1341017.)

MacPherson records indicate that there was no information on their mother other than she was a "great drunkard". The father is listed as Henry Brew and a London address is given. It does say he is respectable, but was sorely tried with regard to his children. He did pay a weekly sum from his wages for his daughters' maintenance (4 of them). It appears as though he must have taken them to Annie Macpherson in October of 1884.

In 1885, Caroline Brew, 10 (along with sister, Mary Brew, 9) arrived at Quebec, Canada, with a group of 22 boys and 35 girls en route to Stratford, Ontario, Canada. (Sisters, Sarah Brew, 7, and Emma Brew, 5, also sailed on the Sardinian, but arrived in Quebec May 31, 1885.)

Caroline Ellen married Mr. Bailey in 1894. They were on their way West from Ontario with a 3-year old son, Harry, when the father died. Caroline and her son continued West. Caroline married Edward Handyside in 1904 and from this union there were four children (one daughter died in infancy). Caroline died in her 71st year in Reston, Manitoba.
