On November 3 1916, Clifford Willie Jukes enlisted into the Canadian Army, he declared his next of kin as as his mother Mrs Annie Brown, Bk 45 Turner St, Sparkbrook, Birmingham, he stated he was a cook and lived in Douglas, NB

Clifford W Jukes married Lizzie M Briggs on April 3 1917 in Fredericton, NB

On March 5 1918, a daughter Doris Eliza Jukes was born to the couple, her mother undertook a declaration in 1946 regarding her daughters birth, by this time Lizzie had remarried and was now known as Elizabeth May Timms.

Clifford Wilfred Jukes was killed in action during an attack on Cambrai on the morning of September 29 1918, he was killed by enemy machine gun fire. He was buried in Mill Switch British Cemetery. Neuville St Remy, France.

His wife Elizabeth remarried in 1921 to Earnest Timms.
