In 1911, Harold Preston, 12, is shown as labourer for Ludlow Hoyt and family in Prince William, York, New Brunswick, Canada. His date of birth is shown as April, 1899.

In November 1922, Harold Preston, 21, entered into the United States through Fort Fairfield, Maine. He declared that he was a farm laborer; that he resided in Prince William, New Brunwick, Canada; that his contact in Canada was his brother, Norman Preston, who resided in Prince William, New Brunswick; that his final destination was Presque Isle, Maine; that he paid for his passage himself; that he had $30 on his person; that he was going to visit his friend C. W. Johnston, who resided at Presque Isle, Maine; that his visit would last 6 months or less. He was described as 5 foot 6 inches in height; medium complexion; dark brown hair; gray eyes. He stated he was born in Prince William, New Brunswick, Canada.

On May 8, 1929, at Fredericton, York, New Brunswick, Canada, a marriage was registered between Harold Preston and Carrie Amelia Jones, daughter of Cook W. Jones and Peremella Burden. [EDITORS NOTE: Harold's brother, Norman, married Carrie's sister, Jessie May Jones.]
