They were leaving behind sister Mabel (born 1893); brother Arthur (born 1905) and half-sister Gertrude (born 1908). Arthur emigrated to Australia in 1923 and Gilbert married and moved to Scotland after WWI.

George's brother, Alfred James Stanley was a witness to the marriage. He was residing at Dunnville, Ontario, Canada.
