In 1891, Alice Deacon, 4 years of age was shown residing at 14 Claremont Row, Walcot, Somersetshire, England. Other family members included: Emily Deacon, 2; Eliza Deacon, 10; George Deacon, 39, mason labourer; Hannah Deacon, 33, charwoman; Jane Deacon, 6; and William Deacon, 8. In 1897, Alice Deacon, 9 (along with sister, Emily Deacon, 7), arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 17 children from the Church of England Waifs and Strays Society accompanied by Mrs Francis and en route to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. (Sister Jane/Jenny Deacon, 12, arrived in 1896, on the Mongolian.)
