John Davie..1969....The death occurred very suddenly at his home,Oak Leaf Road on Tuesday January 28,of John Davie.He had resided alone for several years and lived quietly since retiring from farming. He was born in Scotland coming to Canada at an early age and taking up farming in the Oak Leaf area. He married Miss Letitia Moulton who predeceased him in 1915. His only relatives in Canada were members of the Moulton family,related to his wife,but he had several relatives in Scotland. The late John Davie was a good visitor and excellent neighbor.He has been an active member of the Orange Lodge for many years. Earlier in his life he had been a member of a dance orchestra,being very adept on the drums. The body rested at the Judson Funeral Home in Athens until Thursday January 30,where the funeral service was held with Rev.Kenneth Phythian officiating.The body was placed in the Athens vault to await burial in Oak Leaf Cemetery in the spring. The pallbearers were all neighbors.Ronald Godkin,Deloss Fouzie,Lawrence Eyre,Harold Seabrooke,Robert Godkin and Alfred Evans. The Athens Orange Lodge held their service on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
