In 1901, Maud Ayre, 7 years of age, was residing at 24 Londesborough Road, Stoke Newington, London, England. Other family members included: Arthur Ayre, 4; Frederick Ayre, 45, baker / bread maker; Frederick Ayre, 10; Elsie Ayre, 9; and Myria Ayre, 40. In 1910, Maud Ayre, 15 (along with her sister, Elsie Ayre, 17) arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, with a group of 395 children en route to Toronto and Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. (Their brother, Arthur Ayre, had previously arrived in 1909 on the Dominion.)

In 1911, Maud Ayre [Maud Rosebrugh], 17, is shown as a daughter to John H. and Harriet M. Rosebrugh in South Dumfries, Brant, Ontario, Canada. Her date of birth is shown as August 1893, her birthplace as England and her immigration year as 1910.

In May, 1915, Maude Ayre, 21, crossed into the United States through Port Huron, Michigan. She declared that she was a student nurse; that that she resided in Oakville, Ontario, Canada; that her contact in Canada was her sister, Elsie Grier, who resided at 27 Sydenham, Woodstock, Ontario, Canada; that her final destination was Chicago, Illinois; that she had been born in England; that she had paid her passage herself; that she carried $20 on her person; and that her final destination was Rhodes Ave. Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She was described as 5 foot 3-1/2 inches in height; fair complexion; brown eyes; brown hair. She had immigrated from London, England, through Halifax, on March 18, 1910, on the Tunisian.
