In 1891, Samuel Strickland, 40, and children Mary A, 8, Alice E, 7, Edward P, 6, Frederick C, 6, and cousin Thomas Watson, 50, in
Shoreditch, London

On Jan 12 1892, Alice b 1884 and Edward Strickland b 1885 admitted from Shoreditch Workhouse to Hornchurch Cottage Homes, Mary b 1883 and their other brother Frederick b 1886 joined them there on Jan 26 1892. The children had been deserted by their father Samuel but had a cousin Thomas Watson at 22 Alexander Buildings, Hoxton

The children were noted in the records as having a brother Samuel, Mountfort House, Barnsbury Rgt?,

Alice left the Cottage Homes on May 15 1894 for the Fever Hospital, Homerton, she returned on Aug 24 1894. On 5 Feb 1897 she was sent into service with Mrs Medlake at Hornchurch

Edward left the cottage homes on 13 Feb 1900
Frederick departed 22 December 1896 for The Fever Hospital and returned on 12 Feb 1897, he departed the homes in May 1901
Mary was emigrated to Canada on June 12 1895
