His father was Alfred Charles Westley, his mother Mary Martha and a younger brother listed William Alfred Westley. Further records on Alfred Charles Westley suggest he himself was killed in 1918 in the Great War, 2 years after Harold was killed.

The Canadian Virtual War Memorial states that Harold was the son of Alfred Charles Westley, of Rossmore, Weedon Rd., Upton, Northampton, England.
Commonwealth War Graves Registers states that Harold was previously reported missing, and for official purposes reported that he died whilst prisoner or war at Ledeghem. His remains were exhumed and he was buried at Harlebeke New British Cemetery, Harlebeke, West Flanders, Belgium. Plot: XIV. D. 7.
