In 1913, Leslie Alexander, 11 (along with brother, Edward Alexander, 12 and sister, Kathleen Alexander, 9) arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 87 MacPherson children accompanied by Mrs. Merry and en route to Stratford or Hespeler, Ontario, Canada. Brother, Jack Alexander, arrived in Canada in 1921 at the age of 13 with Macphersons Home.

In June, 1922, Leslie Alexander, 20, entered the United States through the port of Detroit, Michigan. He declared that he was a laborer; that his last permanent residence had been in Dunleven, Ontario, Canada; that he had no relatives in Canada; that he carried $80 on his person; that he was going to visit his uncle Harry Alexander who resided at Box 80, Pontiac, Michigan; that he intended to remain in the United States permanently. He was described as 5 foot 6 inches in height; dark complexion; brown eyes; brown hair. He was born in ?sham, England.
