In 1923, Oliver Claud Alderton, 15, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of Barnardo children (132 boys and 12 girls) en route to Toronto and Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Upon arrival, Oliver Alderton declared that his next of kin was his Mother, Mrs Alderton, who resided at 36 Mill Road, Bury St Edmonds; that he intended to do farm work in Canada; and he was born in Suffolk. [EDITORS NOTE: 36 Mill Road was the location of the Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, Workhouse.]
On 17 December 1930, Oliver C Alderton, 21, arrived back in England on SS Lancastrian. He declared that he was going to Manor House, Stanmore, Middlesex.
Frederick Oliver C. Alderton died in 2003, aged 94, at Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England.
