In 1927, George Ansell, 15, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a small group of 17 boys with the CSA (Church Army - Anglican). He declared that he had been a cinema operator in England; that his intended occupation was farming; that his next of kin was his father, Cecil Ansell, who resided at Drayton Gardens, West Ealing, England.
George was sent to Capt. Robinson of the Church Army, Boys Hostel, 56 Smith St., Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was placed with S. D. Sherman, Birch River, Manitoba, Canada. Later that year he went to Percy E. Bendel in Battrum P.O., Saskatchewan, Canada (near Kindersley).
George married and relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where he remarried. He found out he was dying in 1961 and wanted to return to England at the end.
