Notes John Alexander arrived in Australia in a group of 53 Barnardo children from Stepney Causeway, London, accompanied by Matron Hodgetts and Mr John Gregg. One boy was put ashore at Colombo with a septic leg and another (William RALPH) stayed in Western Australia; 51 went on to Sydney.
The boys were aged from nine to 17 years. The older lads were to be sent on to farms, and the younger ones to school at Mowbray Park, Picton. (Source: NLA Trove newspapers)
