He was described as 5 foot 3 inches in height; fresh complexion; brown eyes; auburn hair. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He had a scar on his right neck and a mole on his right thigh.
On May 19, 1924, at Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Ernest James Abbott, 25, porter, born in England to James Abbott (could not remember mother's name); and Bertha Wellicoombe, 23, born in England, to James and Mary Wellicombe.
