In 1870, Louisa Ackland, 10, arrived with 102 Maria Rye children, all but one girls. Forty were sent to Saint John, New Brunswick, and the rest were en route to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.
At Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada, Louisa met Albert Davey. They had five children: Albert William Davey, born March 24, 1878; Frederick James Davey, born August 26, 1879; Laura Ellen Davey, born November 11, 1884; Edward Verner Davey, born March 3, 1881; and Marion Elizabeth Davey, born November 29, 1886.
Unhappiness led to her estrangement about 1890, and, according to Davey family lore, Louisa left to join her brother, Frederick, by then a railroad employee out west, and was never to be heard of again.
