NotesA birth registration was found for William Butter Adam: Born: January 22, 1884, at 7:00 p.m.; Place of Birth: 21 Langside Road, Govanhill, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Parents: Goerge Schleselman Adam and Agnes Holliday Devrix, married October 19, 1881, at Glasgow, Scotland.

In 1897, William Adam, 13 (along with brother Allan Adam, 12) arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 117 Quarrier children en route to Brockville, Ontario, Canada.

Allan and William Adam, laborers, returned to the United Kingdom on the ship Yorkshire on May 18, 1898.
