NotesA birth registration was found for Florence Addison: Year of Registration: 1893; Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec; District: West Derby; County: Lancashire; Volume: 8b; Page: 440. Parents: Pearson George Addison and Mary Ann Jones, married 1885, Liverpool, Lancashire, England.

Pearson and Mary Ann Addison had three children: Florence, Ernest George, and Elizabeth Ellen (Nellie) Addison.

A death registration was found for Mary Ann Addison: Estimated Birth Year: abt 1863; Year of Registration: 1896; Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun; Age at Death: 33; District: West Derby; County: Lancashire; Volume: 8b; Page: 287.

Pearson George Addison was remarried to Elizabeth Ann Ashton in 1897 in West Derby, Lancashire, England. They had a son, Pearson G. Addison, who was born and died the same year as their marriage, 1897; and a daughter, Rose Addison.

Florence was placed in the Liverpool Sheltering Home (her stepmother signed her in). Thereafter began the imprisonment of her stepmother for child neglect and cruelty (her father had died just a few weeks earlier). Florence's sister, Nellie (Elizabeth Ellen) Addison had been given a domestic placement by the Leeds Sheltering Home, and her brother, Ernest George, was away at sea.

In 1908, Florence Addison, 14, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a mixed party of 84 boys and girls en route to Knowlton, Quebec, Canada.

Her first placement described her as a very pleasant and willing help, yet the next few called her sulky and moody.

Florence had saved her money to return home when her brother, Ernest George Addison, married in 1914. Pearson was listed as deceased on his marriage certificate. Florence remained in England for the duration of the War, going back to Canada in 1919.

Florence Addison married Douglas Desjardins in Fort Coulonge, Quebec, Canada on December 20, 1916.

They had 12 children, 8 of whom were still alive in 1999. Florence, Douglas and their children settled in Westmeath, Renfrew, Ontario, Canada where she remained until her death. Florence is buried in Westmeath Cemetery with Douglas and two of their children.
