In 1907, Thomas Allen, 7, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 137 Middlemore children from Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.
On April 11, 1917, Thomas Henry Allen, 18, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided in Norton, Kings, New Brunswick, Canada; that he was born in Birmingham, England; that his next of kin was his brother, Alfred R. Allen, who resided at 11 North'd, Vauxhall, Birmingham, England; that his date of birth was March 10, 1899; that he was a farmer; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 5 inches in height; fair complexion; brown eyes; brown hair. He was a member of the Church of England.
On April 1, 1922, at River Dennis [sic], Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, a marriage was registered between Elsie Alice Rouse, 24, housekeeper, born in Birmingham, England to Harry and Fanny Rouse; and Thomas Henry Allen, 23, piano tuner, born in Worcestershire, England, to Joseph Allen (mother's name not known). (Elsie Rouse was also a Middlemore child placed in Nova Scotia in 1908.)
