The RootsChat Reference Library
Since RootsChat started in December 2003 we now have over 230,000 (*)
topics on a variety of subjects.
If you have a question for RootsChat, then it's more than likely that someone has an answer for you.
You can use the Search RootsChat button, at the top of every page, to find an answer,
but the the search engine is not very specific and you may have "too many" answers.
We can't show you a list of every topic, but to make things easier, we have created some lists and catalogues.

The RootsChat LEXICON of Genealogical Terms, Phrases and Abbreviations
Here you can find explanations and discussions about some "often asked about" Words, Phrases and Abbreviations.
found in Genealogy and Family History.
These may be in Census images, BMD Certificates, Parish Registers, Wills, military documents or other sources.
You can search for terms alphabetically, or according to category.
The RootsChat Topics Catalogues
These are lists of topics related to particular themes and special interests.
The links in the lexicon and catalogues point to RootsChat topics, where these terms are explained and discussed.
Some of these topics supply other links to topics or external sites with more information.
So try searching the Reference Library to see if your question has already been answered ...
And if not, you can still try the Search RootsChat button :)
