RootsChat Surname Interests Table (SIT)

- Adding Names -

Click on Add my Surname Interests


Surname Interest:
You must enter a name here, all other fields are optional.
Please enter only one surname per entry. Variations can be entered in separate entries.

Surnames will automatically be converted to upper-case in the database.
Only alphabetic characters are allowed !!

There are three exceptions to this rule:
  • the apostrophe ' is allowed (O'Crikey, D'Atsustold, L'Otsofus, etc)

  • If you enter a space, you will be asked if this is a valid name.
    (usually names of foreign origin: De Licious, Van Ity, Von Derful, etc)
    If it's a forename, put it in the Comment field, please.

  • If you enter a hyphen, you will be asked if this is a double-barrelled name.
    If it is that's fine, carry on ...

In your own interest, please don't abuse these exceptions
If you enter more than one surname, e.g. "THOMSON GREEN" then you will be only one searching for "THOMSON GREEN". You will will not be seen by those searching for "THOMSON" and you will not be seen by those searching for "GREEN".

Country:
You can enter a country from the drop-down menu.
Please confirm your choice, so that the relevant "Area" menu can be loaded.

Area: e.g. County, State, Territory, etc
You can enter an area from the drop-down menu.

If your ancestors lived in more than one area, please enter separately for each area.

Place, Village or Parish:
Useful for localising searches.

Comments:
Enter anything you like here, that could help when searching.
