Notes Edwin Barges arrived in Australia in a group of 53 Barnardo children from Stepney Causeway, London, accompanied by Matron Hodgetts and Mr John Gregg. One boy was put ashore at Colombo with a septic leg and another (William RALPH) stayed in Western Australia; 51 went on to Sydney.
The boys were aged from nine to 17 years. The older lads were to be sent on to farms, and the younger ones to school at Mowbray Park, Picton. (Source: NLA Trove newspapers)

CWGC site states he was son of Henry and Andrea Katherine Barges; husband of Kathleen Elizabeth Barges, of Yass, New South Wales. His wife Kathleen did not remarry and died in 1999 aged 85.
