NotesFourth of five brothers born to Thomas Pericles Hinton and Josephine Dutlinger, it seems the family fell on hard times. In 1901 the father had left London for South Wales, having a job as a coal miner. Meanwhile the mother had taken ten years off her age and was working as a cook. It seems Pericles was the only one to be sent to Canada, where he died at a young age as a result of a farming accident.
