In 1911, James Guilfoyle, 16, was shown as a domestic to William and Elizabeth Gibson of Wellesley Township, Crosshill Village, Waterloo North, Ontario, Canada. His date of birth is shown as February 1895 and his immigration year as 1906.

On September 20, 1914, at Valcartier, Quebec, Canada, James E. Guilfoyle, 19, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in Dublin, Ireland; that his next of kin was Miss Elizabeth Guilfoyle, who resided at 1 Duke Street, Dublin, Ireland; that his date of birth was February 11, 1895; that he was a shoe cutter; that he was single; and that he had served 1 year with the Canadian militia. He was described as 5 foot 7-3/4 inches in height; medium complexion; grey eyes; brown hair. He was a member of the Church of England. He had 4 vaccination scars on his left arm; and a scar on the left side of the back of his neck.

On August 2, 1918, at Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between James Edward Guilfoyle, 23, commercial traveler, born in Dublin, Ireland, to James Edward Guilfoyle and Elizabeth Brady; and Evelyn McCall, 18 (she was actually 15), student, born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Edward McCall and Norah Baker.

On August 20, 1921, Lena Evelyn McCall Guilfoyle died of pulmonary tuberculosis, 6 months duration, at the home of her parents in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada. Her parents names were Edward McCall and Nora Ann Baker. The informant is her mother, Nora McCall. Lena Evelyn McCall was buried in Prospect Cemetery, Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada.

James Guilfoyle remarried Maud Pirke about 1925, probably in the United States.

In 1930, James E. Guilfoyle, 33, caretaker of synagogue and club house, is shown residing at 118(?) West 95th Street, Manhattan, New York, New York, USA, along with his wife, Maud Guilfoyle, 42; son James E. Guilfoyle, Jr., 2; and step-son, Harold Perke, 20, store salesman. James Guilfoyle immigrated in 1906 and was as naturalized citizen of the United States.

James Edward Guilfoyle died in February 1983 at Long Island City, Queens, New York, USA, at the age of 89.
