NotesThe following records have been discerned for Private William Rew Summers. Dr. Snow's research claims William Rew Summers as a British Home Child. Research shows him in Canada and in Scotland, it is possible he shipped to Canada on two occasions.

1891 Scottish Census records place the family of Margaret (Rew) and George Summers in Bogton, Drumoak, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. In residence were their children George (5, born Fetteresso, Kincardineshire), William (4, born Fetteresso, Kincardineshire) and Agnes (1, born Fetteresso, Kincardineshire). Also in residence was Sarah Summers (34). There were other names also recorded but the transcription is unclear as to their relation or if they are in the same household.

1901 Scottish Census records places William Summers in the home of Margaret and George Summers in Bieldside, East Petersulter, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. He was born about 1887 in Kincardineshire, Fetteresso. Also in residence are George (15), Agnes (11), James (6), as well as William Smith (18) and Christina Reid (19).

1911 Canadian Census Records show that William Summers was a Servant in the household of James Shiel of Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. William was born in Sep of 1886 and claimed to have arrived in Canadian in 1910 from Scotland.

Attestation papers were signed 30 Mar 1916 in Vancouver, British Columbia. William Rew Summers was born 1 Sep 1886 in Scotland. He was a Teamster by trade and lived at 344 Hastins Street East, Vancouver, British Columbia. His Next of Kin was Margaret Summers of Kings Ford House, Alford, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. 5'6" in height he had blue eyes and light brown hair, as well as 2 vaccination marks on his left arm and a clump of 7 warts on his left side. His religion was listed as Presbyterian.

Commonwealth War Graves Registers for William Rew Summers states that he died of wounds at No. 3 Australian Casualty Clearing Station. Next of Kin notified was Mrs. M. Summers of Kings Ford House, Alford, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. William was buried in Nine Elms British Cemetery, Poperinge, West Flanders, Belgium. Plot: VIII. A. 7.
