NotesJessie Drummond Lindsay was born out of wedlock. Her father was believed to be Alexander RUSSELL, ropemaker.

Jessie was placed with the Quarriers organization in February, 1884.

In 1884, Jessie Lindsay, 3, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 129 Quarriers children en route to Brockville, Ontario, Canada.

Jessie was placed with Alexander and Eliza Miller of Warminster, Ontario, Canada. (It appears that she thought she was their child. In a report from Barnardos dated 1899--the year that Alexander Miller died--when Jessie was 18, it shows that she was wanting to know about relatives and that she was referred to Brockville. According to the report, her mother was a "thoroughly bad woman".)

In 1901, Jessie Lindsay, 20, was shown residing at Orillia, Simcoe, Ontario, Canada, along with her adopted mother, Eliza Miller, 50, widow, farmer. Her date of birth is shown as March 24, 1881, and her immigration year was not shown.

Jessie Drummond Lindsay married William James Reid, son of Thomas Freeman Reid and Ellen Lamb, on May 3, 1909 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada.

Jessie Drummond Lindsay Reid died March 29, 1964, at the age of 82, in West Summerland, British Columbia, Canada. (Registration No.: 1964-09-005101)
