NotesIn 1900, Lucy Fane, 9, arrived at Montreal Quebec, Canada, in a group of 83 Barnardo girls en route to Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Lucy's older sister, Maud Florence Fane sailed on the same ship.

Lucy was born in St. Albans, Hertfordshire in Engand and was the daughter of Joseph "Henry" Fane and Kate Smith. She was one of seven children.

I have lost any sign of Lucy after the 1901 Canadian census, however I have been fairly successful in following her sister. A new-to-me cousin states his mother (daughter of Florence) told him, Aunt Lucy went to the Oakwood train station with a young man, going to Quebec and was never heard from again. Comminication with Barnardo Organization in England, they lost track of Lucy in 1909. Because it's not known if Lucy married and had decsendants, Barnardos refuse to release any further information about Lucy.

The other boarder found within the Richardson household on the 1901 census, Jane Wilson is also a Home Child who sailed on the same ship as Lucy and Maud. Sadly Jane died soon after arriving in Canada and is buried in Little Lake Cemetery in Peterborough ON.
