NotesA birth registration was found for Gregor McGregor Adie: Born March 2, 1880, 2:40 a.m., at 185 Henderson, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland. Parents: James Adie, Mason & Journeyman, and Elizabeth McGregor. According to the birth certificates of the children, they were married June 4, 1875, in Helensburgh, Scotland, but no certificate can be found.

James Adie died of phthisis pulmanolis at the age of 41, on September 12, 1891, at 3:40 a.m., at Bellevue Terrace, Stenhousemuir, Larbert, Sterling, Scotland.

In 1891, Elizabeth Adie was a servant and cook to Ellen Clark, a widow from New York, USA. (Source: 1891 Census of Scotland, Page 42, Section 2, Patrick, Lanarkshire, Scotland.)

In 1894, Gregory Aclie, 14, arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, from Glasgow, Scotland, in a group of 139 Quarriers children en route to Brockville, Ontario, Canada.

On April 10, 1916, at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Gregor McGregor Adie, 32, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces (Service No. 913296). He declared that he resided in Mens Own, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; that he was born in Glasgow, Scotland; that his next of kin was his uncle, Wm McGregor, who resided at 84 South Shamrock, Glasgow, Scotland; that his date of birth was March 25, 1884; that he was a laborer; that he was single; and that he had served for 3 years previously in "A" Battery, CFA, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He was described as 5 foot 9 inches in height; ruddy complexion; brown eyes; dark hair. He was a member of the Church of England.

On April 11, 1916, at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Gregor McGregor Adie, 22, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces (Service no. 288370). He declared that he resided at the St. James Hotel, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; that he was born in Glasgow, Scotland; that his next of kin was his uncle, William McGregor, who resided at 84 South Shamrock, Glasgow, Scotland; that his date of birth was March 25, 1894; that he was a laborer; that he was single; and that he had served for 6 years previously in the Royal Canadian Field Artillery. He was described as 5 foot 8 inches in height; dark complexion; brown eyes; black hair. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith. He had a scar on the top of his right hip one inch long due to accident; a scar on the back of his upper part of left calf; tattoo marks on lower left forearm - flag (Union Jack), horseshoe and star, also skull and crossbones. He was dischanged on May 2, 1916, for desertion.
