WEDDING
SPACKMAN— DIGNAN
The wedding of Private Monica Josephine Dignan, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Dignan, of Burringbar, and Private Edward Spackman, twin son of Mr and Mrs E. Spackman, of Essex, England, was solemnised in St. Brigid's Catholic
Church, Burringbar, by Father Brennan.
The bride wore a dress of magnoila bridal satin. The bodice featured a high neck line with pin tucked yoke and sprays of orange blossom. Pin tucks also finished the waist line and the long sleeves were cut in a point over the wrists.
The skirt was full and cut with a long train. Her embroidered veil was held in place, with a heart-shaped coronet of orange blossoms and tulle and she carried a bouquet of frangipanni and maiden, hair fern.
Two sisters of the bride, Misses Sheila aĞid Bridget Dignan, were bridesmaids. They were dressed alike in frocks of white lace over satin, and wore pink embroidered veils with coronets of pink tulle.
They carried bouquets of pink radiance roses and maiden hair fern. ACI M. Dignan and Mr W.Brimms attended the bridegroom.
The flower girl was Marlene Flanagan, who was dressed in lavender organdi over silk, the page boy, Peter Farrell, was dressed in blue. The choir sang Ave Maria during the signing of the register.
The reception was held in the School of Arts, Burringbar, where the bride's mother, who wore a frock of blue silk, received 118 guests. The catering was done by Burringbar Red Cross members. A feature of the tables, which were decorated in yellow and green, was a two-decker wedding cake.
When leaving for the honeymoon which was spent in Brisbane and Warwick, the bride wore a frock of navy with navy accessories, with a posy of radiance roses.

Sadly Monica died in 1951 in Murwillumbah district, NSW (reg 30739 daughter of Peter & Ethel Mary). Edward remarried in 1957.
