James son of Joseph (labourer) and Ellen of 120 Ossulton Street was baptised 18 Sep 1873 in the Parish of Christ Church Somerstown in the County of Middlesex in the year One thousand eight hundred and seventy three.

In 1890, James Clarke, 16, arrived at Portland, Maine, US, along with a group of 113 children who disembarked at Portland. (More children in the same party disembarked at Halifax.)
