In 1901, (Alice) Louisa Bidwell, 1 year of age, was shown residing at Hastnoll(?) Cottages, George Street, Lower Holloway, Islington, London, England. Other famly members included: Catherina Bidwell, 39; Charles Bidwell, 42, contractor labourer (earthwork); Charles Bidwell, 6; Elizabeth Bidwell, 10; Emma Bidwell, 13; Harry Bidwell, 8; and Isabella Bidwell, 4. In 1910, Alice Bidwell, 10, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 85 Barnardo children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (Her sister, Isobella Bidwell arrived in 1905 with Barnardos.)

In 1911, Allis Bidwell, 11, is shown as a boarder with Thomas J. and Pennie H. Mumby of Marmora, Hastings West, Ontario, Canada. Her date of birth is shown as November 1899 and her immigration year as 1907.

On March 8, 1920, Alice Bidwell's sister, Isobel Bidwell, 23, factory worker for Can. Gen. Elec., died of influenza and pneumonia at Nicholls Hospital, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Alice Bidwell, was the informant. (Isabella Bidwell is buried at Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, along with 46 other Barnardo children who were a part of Hazlebrae House.)

On December 20, 1922, at Toronto, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Alice Louise Bidwell, 23, inspector, born in England to Charles Bidwell and Kathleen Costello; and Thomas Abercrombie Mitchell, 30, carpenter, born in Scotland to Thomas Mitchell and Mary Abercrombie.

In March 1923, Thomas and Alice Mitchell, entered the United States through the port of Detroit, Michigan. Alice Mitchell declared that she was 23 years of age; that her Canadian contact was her aunt, Annie Mumby, who resided at 84 Avenue Road, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; that her passage was paid for by her husband; she had never been in the United States prior to this trip; and she intended to remain permanently. Alice was described as 5 foot 2 inches in height; medium complexion; brown hair; blue eyes. She had been born in London, England.

In 1930, Alice Mitchell, 29, was shown residing at 5215 Hecla Avenue, Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, along with her husband, Thomas Mitchell, 39, contractor / carpenter; children: Isabell Mitchell, 4 years, 8 months; James Mitchell, 3 years, 11 months; and John Mitchell, 9 months; and her brother-in-law, Palven Mitchell, 42, worker in the glass dept. of Ford Motor Co. Thomas and Alice Mitchell had 3 children: Isabell Mitchell; James Mitchell; and John Crawford Mitchell.

Alice Louise Bidwell Mitchell died June 10, 1988, at the age of 88, in Caseville, Huron, Michigan, USA. Thomas Abercrombie Mitchell died January 1, 1977, at the age of 86, in Livonia, Wayne, Michigan, USA.
