In 1886, G Bridges, 13, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 9 boys from Barton Regis Union, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England, accompanied by Mr. Bird, and en route to Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.

"Copy of Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888."

Report of Mr. Samuel Gardner, Government Immigration Agent at St. John, New Brunswick.

James Bridges, aged 15. From Barton Regis Union. Placed with Jas. W.Townsend, Passakeg, King's County.?Has been in his place two years. Has a good home, and now obedient and contented, health good. Though still subject to the infirmity, urinal weakness, already reported on to the school, he promises well for the future. He writes Miss Clifford and Miss Townsend has not had a sick day since he came, notwithstanding his defect; a real wholesome-looking fellow, but very dull to learn his farm work; he is now contented, so he says; the usual "No, sir" to the question would you like to go back to England?
