Alice Mathews Gull died on June 18, 1907, at Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, of pneumonia.

In 1909, Walter Gull, 10, arrived at Portland, Maine, USA, in a group of 310 Barnardo children en route to Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

Walter was placed with Chauncey and Naomi Dawdy, Pelham, Ontario, Canada. Chauncey died in 1925 (arterio sclerosis) and at the time is listed as a grain farmer. His father's name on the death register is James Dawdy. Chauncey is buried in the Dawdy Cemetery.

On December 22, 1916, at Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada, Walter Stuart Gull, 18, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided at Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in Birmingham, England; that his next of kin was his father, Charles Gull, who resided at 110 Silver Street, Kings Heath, Birmingham, England; that his date of birth was November 17, 1898; that he was a farmer; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 2-1/4 inches in height; fair complexion; blue eyes; brown hair. He was a member of the Methodist faith.

On March 7, 1928, at Meaford, Grey, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Walter Stuart Gull, 29, farmer, born in Birmingham, England, to Charles Henry Gull and Alice Mathews; and Jean McEwen, 19, born in Glen Huron, Ontario, Canada, to James Robert McEwen and Aida May Nestor.

On September 1, 1955, Walter Gull, 57, market gardener, and Jean Gull, 47, returned to the United Kingdom on the ship Ivernia for a visit of 7 weeks. Their intended address in the UK was 1 Hampton Road, Oswestry, England.
