In 1910, Oliver Stephen Douglas, 8, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 172 Middlemore children.

[EDITORS NOTE: In 1911, both of Oliver's parents were still alive and residing at Binghams Row Long St Atherstone, Warwickshire, England, with three of their children: Lillie, William and Harry Douglas.]

On 10th December 1932, Oliver Stephen Douglas, 28, Farmer, Bachelor, 'Presbytarian', of Big Bras D'or, Victoria Co, Nova Scotia, born Birmingham, son of William and Minnie Douglas, married Mrs Bridie Teresa Munroe, 26, widow, House Matron, 'Presbytarian, formerly Catholic' born Galway, Ireland, daughter of Patrick Gilligan and Mary Moran.

The marriage took place in Big Bras D'or, witnessed by Angus H Campbell and Catherine McDonald
