McCracken, 13, Grocer's Message Boy; brother, Mary McCracken, 1; and, step-sister, Agnes Thompson, 13. In 1912, Thomas McCracken, 13, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 98 Quarrier boys en route to Brockville, Ontario, Canada. (Sister, Mary McCracken, 11, arrived in 1911 on the Hesperian with Quarriers.)

On March 28, 1918, at Kingston, Ontario, Canada, Thomas McCracken, 20, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces (Service No. 343330). He declared that he resided at Douglas, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in Ayr, Scotland; that his next of kin was his sister, Miss Mary McCracken, who resided at 93 King Street, Brockville, Ontario, Canada; that his date of birth was November 21, 1898; that he was a farmer; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 8-1/2 inches in height; fair complexion; blue eyes; brown hair. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith. His left foot was moderately flat.
