Charles Ayres, 73, with 'Y' 34 Years, Dies in Hospital
Charles Bernard Ayres, 73, of 262 Langside Street, died Tuesday in Misericordia Hospital. Born in Durham, England, he came to Canada in 1898 and to Winnipeg in 1922. He was an official of the Winnipeg Central YMCA and had been with the organization, particularly in the boys' department for 34 years. He served with the CEF during the First World War and was a member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Association.
His wife, Frances, died in 1955. Surviving are two sons, Walter J. and Reginald B., of Winnipeg. A son, George, died in 1957. Funeral service will be at 2:15 p.m. Friday in A. B. Gardiner Funeral Home, Rev. D. W. Fraser officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.
