NotesA birth registration was found for Cornelius Albon: Date: Apr-May-Jun 1875; District: Biggleswade; County: Bedfordshire; Volume: 3b; Page: 356. Parents: Thomas Albone and Elizabeth Wooten [Wootton], married 1863 at Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, England.

In 1887, Cornelius Albone, 10, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 209 Barnardo boys en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Ups and Downs, April 1, 1896, Vol. 1, No. 9, reported:

Cornelius Albone, age 19, visited England and returned to Carp [Lanark, Ontario, Canada]. He has been 9 years in Canada.

Cornelius Albone married first Margaret Mastaw in Michigan. It is not known whether they divorced or she died.

Cornelius Albone next married Sarah Grace Fox on December 25, 1901, at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, USA. At least 3 children were born of the marriage: Alfred Webster ("Web") Albone, born April 9, 1903, in Chippewa, Michigan, USA, died October 7, 1980, in El Cajon, San Diego, California, USA; Clinton Cornelius Albone, born January 9, 1906, in Michigan, USA, died June 8, 1978, in San Diego, San Diego, California, USA; and Clarence Frederick Albone, born January 9, 1906, Michigan, USA, died March 10, 1976, in San Diego, San Diego, California, USA.

A family story has been related many times, by different relatives, how one night Cornelius went out for a loaf of bread and never came back. His wife Sarah had him declared dead, and then married Charlie McCarty, that marriage ended in divorce as a result of her son Clinton.

On May 19, 1923, Cornelius Albone, 47, crossed into the United States through the port of Niagara Falls, New York. He declared that he was not married; that he was a laborer; that he was born in Biggleswade, England; that he had no relatives in Canada; that he had last resided in Merritton, Canada; that his final destination was 19 Oliver Street, Tonswanda, New York; he had resided between 1900-1911 in the United States; that he intended to remain permanently in the United States. He was described as 5 foot 6 inches in height; medium complexion; brown hair; blue eyes.

Sometime in the late 1940's, Cornelius reunited with his wife and sons in San Diego, California.

Sarah Grace Fox remarried Cornelius Albone on September 22, 1947, at Chouteau, Montana, USA.

Cornelius, Sarah, Clarence and Clinton Albone were residing at 418 5th Avenue North, Great Falls, Montana, USA, in 1949.

Cornelius Albone died on October 12, 1956, in San Diego, California, USA. He is buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, San Diego, San Diego, California, USA.

Sarah Grace Fox Albone died November 17, 1970, in San Diego, San Diego, California, USA. She is buried at Mount Hope Cemetery, San Diego, San Diego, California, USA.
