In 1908, Frederick Tugnutt, 14, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of Barnardo children: 65 girls to Peterborough, and 109 boys to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, accompanied by Mrs. Francis.

On January 28, 1915, at Tilsonburg, Ontario, Canada, Frederick Tugnutt, 21, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in Brighton, England; that his next of kin was Mrs. Jane Tugnutt, who resided in Brighton, England; that he was born October 3, 1894; that his occupation was farming; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 6-1/4 inches in height; fair complexion; brown eyes; black hair. He was a member of the Church of England.

On June 8, 1918, at Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Frederick Tugnutt, 23, motor mechanic, born in Brighton, England, to John Tugnutt and Jane Sutees; and Eunice May Sayers, 20, gold leaf worker, born in London, England, to Thomas Sayers and Annie Burridge.

At least 7 children were born of this marriage: Buster Tugnutt, born about 1919, died about October 1919 of influenza in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Frederick Tugnutt, born about 1921; Eileen Tugnutt, born about 1925; Eunice Tugnutt, born about 1926; Annie Tugnutt, born about 1927; Dorothy Tugnutt, born about 1929; and Albert Ernest Tugnutt, born May 11, 1930, died January 23, 1991.

On July 15, 1934, Frederick Tugnutt, 40, post office worker, and Eunice Tugnutt, 36, along with their children: Frederick, 13; Margaret, 9; Eunice (or Eileen), 8; Annie, 7; Dorothy, 5; and Albert, 3, returned to the United Kingdom on the ship Ascania. Their intended residence was No. 1 Portlands Grds, Haywerds Heath, England.

On October 14, 1960, Frederick Tugnutt, 66, retired, returned to the United Kingdom on the ship Saxonia with Albert Tugnutt, 68, born August 31, 1892, retired. His intended residence in England was 36 Hanbury Lane, Haywards Heath, and he intended to remain for 6 months, returning to Canada. Albert Tugnutt intended to remain permanently in England.

Eunice May Sayers Tugnutt died on January 12, 1956 at St. Michaels Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

TUGNUTT, Fred--Suddenly at Scarborough General Hospital on Tuesday, January 3, 1978, Fred Tugnutt, husband of the late Eunice, dear father of Fred, Eileen (Mrs. S. Reardon), Eunice (Mrs. G. Moll), Ann (Mrs. W. Mills), Dorothy (Mrs. G. Roach), Albert, grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of 7. Mr. Tugnutt will be resting at the "Scarborough Chapel" of McDougall & Brown Ltd., 2900 Kingston Rd. (rear St. Clair Ave. E.) after 2 p.m. Thursday. Service and committal in the chapel Friday 7:30 p.m. Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Fred's granddaughter remembered "Frederick Tugnutt was a warm, sincere,and kind man who told wonderful stories (about his pioneer days in Canada)and about his life as a young boy in England."
